Hello all!,
Gwyn and I spent a contract in Coos Bay Oregon, working near the coast and the Oregon Dunes.
We spent the weekends camping, exploring the dunes, and taking care of our little Holly girl. It was a tough contract, not because of the environment, but because Miss Holly wasn’t feeling well most of the time. Her will to live was stronger than her body, but as long as she was finding simple pleasures in this life, we loved on our little one.
Gwyn and I spent Holly’s last few weeks filled with many pup cups from Dutch Bros, strolling her along Winchester Bay listening to the sea lions, taking her crabbing for the first time, and all the scrambled eggs her little heart desired. Holly enjoyed eating, and wanted to be with us at always, so the camping trips kept her in close contact with us at all times. There were even a few days we literally “wore” her around while we were cooking over the campfire or sitting around and listening to all of the wildlife at the campsites.
While we were in Coos Bay, Gwyn and I also took the girls to Lakeside for a camping weekend, Eugene for a Saturday Market, and a few walks along the beaches looking for anemone and agate. One of our weekends we spent exploring the Charleston Marine Life center, (which I highly recommend if you get the chance to go) Charleston Marine Life Center | Dive in and explore, and a few weekend days walking around the cute little town of Bandon. Bandon has a few little coffee shops worth checking out, as well as a spot called Cranberry Sweets which has samples of their candies around the store. Cranberry Sweets & More
All in all, we spent the time there working, finding seafood, and “putting out fires“ as they showed up. Our van required a new alternator while we were located there, and we made sure to get 4 brand new tires for Bluey for our drive back to the east coast.
The west coast is lovely, but it was time to return to the east for a bit for family celebrations as well as much needed family time.
Over and out,
Whit
